AIM Feature Athlete Workout:  Lynda Thoresen

Lynda Thoresen caught our attention a few years back when she competed in bodybuilding here in Alberta. Each year though, she seemed unable to nail her conditioning. Luckily for Lynda she has great genetics and good overall shape. In fact, in the off season she rarely trains her arms... a similarity she has with IFBB Pro icon, Monica Brant - Peckham whom Lynda has teamed up with for Monica's FEM Camps held across Canada and the US each year.

 

 

Since teaming up with Monica, Lynda has sought the training knowledge of Kim Oddo, Monica's trainer along with many of the top IFBB and NPC athletes. Is it a coincidence that Lynda has suddenly transformed herself and is being noticed at each of her shows? Definitely not! Lynda is a perfectionist and when on stage steals the limelight from others in part due to her great shape, but also due to her graceful, yet strong stage presence. At Nationals this year, I head more then a few comments regarding Lynda... all positive of course.

 

 

Lynda is available for personal training and this year guided a number of athletes to top placements in their respective classes. You can also catch Lynda at FEM Camps across North America, where she'll be teaming up with Monica, Kim Oddo, Nancy Jambazian, and yours truly.

 

We caught up with Lynda shortly before provincials and documented her training for back and shoulders.

 

 

Back:

  • Wide Grip Chin-ups 3 x 8-12 reps

  • Latt Pull down 3 x 10-15 reps

  • Straight Arm Press down 3 x 12-15 reps

  • 1 Arm DB Row 3 x 10-15 reps

Shoulders:
  • BB Shoulder Press 21's 3 x 21 reps
  • High Side Lateral Raise 5 x 10 reps
  • Reverse Pec Dec 3 x 15 reps
  • Alternating DB Shoulder Press 3 x 12 reps each
  • Side Lateral Raise 3 x 12 reps
  • Reverse Fly on Bench 3 x 12 reps
